When you call our offices seeking support on your n4ce software, a new voice may welcome you. Mike Penone is the latest addition to the AiC team, with the specific task of providing support on our n4ce software. Mike comes to us from a background in the automotive industry, where he provided support and organised work scheduling. Fluent in multiple languages, he makes a welcome addition to the AiC team.
Extremely competent in computing, Mike wished to step up a grade into our world of geomatics. He’s taken the first tentative steps by doing his first survey, which was conducted close to our offices on a housing estate, where there are typical challenges faced by many of our customers. The n4ce coding system, shortcuts, etc.
We always suggest that users carrying out a topographic survey try and visualise their survey, and how it will appear in n4ce. The coding system helps here with comma codes and dimensions.
Here we can see Mike using a Leica total station kindly loaned to us by John Fraser. And you are quite right, Mike is booking by hand! We want him to “feel” the advantages of a modern total station before he goes robotic, prismless and hooked up to a smart logging system!
Four days of collecting points, with manual booking; does anyone remember those days?
A simple traverse to start off with to provide the control, closing to few secs and mm. Then a detail survey introducing the n4ce coding system.
The final training day introduced robotics and our 4Site logging system. Phil was on hand to provide guidance whilst John was on the prism end. In-office processing and editing produced the final plot. A good attempt the first time out.
